In a race that’s too close to call at the current time, a trifecta of films are neck in neck while vying for the top spot at the box office over the weekend of September 30-October 2, 2011. Topping all newcomers, last week’s top three placers “The Lion King 3D,” “Dolphin Tale” and “Moneyball” remained atop the pecking order when it comes to ticket sales – with the trio of motion pictures estimated to take home somewhere between $12-14 million each over the weekend. Rounding out the top five this week are two newcomers, with the Joseph Gordon-Levitt fronted comedic drama “50/50″ and Alex Kendrick directed drama “Courageous” both pacing towards opening weekends of $9 million.
